Blackjack Doubledown Pomade

Hello fellow grease heads, it’s been a while since I’ve done a review, but here we go. I heard about this pomade from the best group on Facebook, Addicted to Pomade. And I find out about every pomade I buy, and damn, are there some amazing pomades out there. These pomades I speak of are made by homebrewers, which means they brew their own pomade at home (duh!) Anyway, this pomade is made by Mike Moose Brooks and damn, did he really hit it out of the ballpark with this pomade, it is damn near the perfect heavy pomade. I mean, just look at that design! It’s awesome!

image

It comes in a 4 ounce flat tin, and it has a design of what seems to be a skeleton with a pomp playing Blackjack, hence the name of the pomade, Blackjack Doubledown. The ingredients of the pomade are on the bottom of the tin, and are really simple ingredients, Petroleum, Microcrystalline Wax and Scent. How the heck is the pomade so great with only 3 simple ingredients?!

image

When you open it, you see this whiteish, clearish pomade, with a magnificent scent of a manly cologne powder. The scent reminds me of a stronger Clubman aftershave, I really love the scent.

image

Scooping it out was really surprising, it scooped out surprisingly easy for a heavy, like way easier than any wax pomade I ever tried. I really love the consistency of this pomade, I wish there was more pomades with the same texture of this pomade. It spread a bit tough like most waxbased pomade, but it straigthened my hair like a champ! And man, was that manly scent strong in my hair! And it had a nice medium shine to it!

A super heavy pomade, with a shine! As a said before, hit it out of the ballpark. And the best part is..IT’S HEATPROOF! I was out today in 80-90 degree weather today, and it held all day, and the scent stayed strong. I definitely recommend this pomade, it is in my top five favorite pomades. I give it a 9.5 out of 10, because it feels that the tin is too small, and I NEED MOAR.
Well ’til next time guys..

Sportin’ Waves Gel Pomade Review

I don’t normally do medium pomades a lot but I assume some people out there want all kinds of pomade reviews, so I tell myself people actually read this blog, so I put up the reviews 🙂 and by the way I would love some feedback and comments, come on don’t be shy, if you guys have any pomade questions, leave a comment, and ill respond ASAP. I know I haven’t been doing as much reviews as I should but that’s because I’m lazy 🙂 but I’m gonna really kickstart these reviews again! 🙂 Anyway, kind of got off topic there, but normally I don’t review medium or light pomades, I usually like reviewing heavy or waterbased pomades because they are the only ones that hold my hair, since I have a jewfro type of hair. But I’ve had this pomade for a while but I never really touched it, it was one the first ones I ever bought, but I didn’t really use it, because it is called Sportin’ Waves, and it gave me waves when I did my hair. But I decided to give it another chance since my hair was now way longer, its up to 7 inches long (that’s what she said) and that’s honestly the longest I’ve ever had my hair.

Anyway here’s the tin… Its a black red and white plastic screw on lid tin, I prefer metal or aluminum tins (don’t we all?) than plastic but its all good 🙂

image

You guys can tell I already scooped out a large amount, because I’ve had it for a while. Its a creamy pasty shiny pomade that smells of Pert Shampoo, well to me it smells like Pert but its basically a fresh shampoo kind of smell…

image

It scoops out really easy, very creamy, it has a medium texture, but it went in my hair like any heavy pomade which was weird but my hair came out looking pretty damn good 🙂

This pomade pleasantly surpised me, it gave my hair a shitload of volume I was flabbergasted for a lack of a better word, it made my pomp very round and full, I felt like Elvis 🙂 at the very end of the day though my hair did wave because I recombed, and my hair curls up for some strange reason when I recomb but this stuff has some pretty nice hold, not a lot of shine but it gives your hair a ton of volume. I give it a 8 out of 10 because it wasn’t as washable as advertised, I still had some petro in my hair when I got out of the shower, but I highly recommend this pomade 🙂 Til next time.. -Martin

Dax Green & Gold Pomade Review

Petrolatum products don’t really work well with my curly hair, but this time around when the weather gets a little cooler, my hair actually behaves and I get a pretty decent pomp, so I started buying petrol pomades, along with microwax and beeswax pomades, to see if my curly hair will cooperate with them, and a lot of them did 🙂 but those reviews will come soon my friends 😉 On with the review! Dax is one of the greatest pomade companies ever, they’ve been around since I don’t even know when, and they have a line of amazing products, ranging from soft like Dax Short & Neat to the heavier stuff like Dax Wave & Groom, they definitely know their stuff, so when I saw some Dax Green and Gold for 3 bucks, it was a fucking deal…

image

The pomade container is… well… green and gold! It has that classic feel, simple lettering and no design.

image

The pomade is a light greenish-yellow color, and it has a nice clean flowery scent, its a nice scent, when I smell it, it just gives a fresh feel, but I love the smell 🙂

image

Scooping it out for me, it felt really thick and sticky, so I know it was gonna have some major hold! It was REALLY sticky too, like glue, probably because of the beeswax or all the oils in it. Putting it in my hair was… scary to say the least. It pulled so bad, like worst than Murray’s, it fucking hurt so bad, but its ok I could handle the pain, I ain’t no punk bitch! (Rush Hour quote) it had some MEAN hold, I love this stuff, I really do, probably had a stronger hold than Wave and Groom, well I heard Dax High & Tight Awesome Hold has some awesome hold (badum tss) but I’m still waiting for it in the mail 🙂

image

image

As you can see, I combed a decent pomp, not my greatest, but decent 🙂 pretty good shine for a heavy wax too, and a stiff hold yet still very recombable 🙂 I give this pomade a 9.5 out of 10 🙂 its great stuff, but I recommend putting it in when ur hair is damp or it will hurt like a motherfucker… Til next time 🙂 -Martin

I’ve really got to stop buying hair products every fucking week, this is why I’m always broke…
